India A is set to tour England for two first-class matches against England A, with Abhimanyu Easwaran named as captain of the squad. Dhruv Jurel, who also serves as a wicketkeeper, has been appointed vice-captain for the tour. The 18-member squad includes a mix of experienced and young talents such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shardul Thakur, and Karun Nair.
Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan are expected to join the squad for the second game of the series.
Joining Jurel in the wicketkeeping department is Ishan Kishan, both of whom featured in India A’s unofficial Test series in Australia earlier in the 2024-25 season. Kishan played the first game, while Jurel featured in the second.
Pace and Spin Options
The team boasts a strong lineup of pace bowlers including Shardul Thakur, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, and Tushar Deshpande. Allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy adds depth with his dual skills. In the spin department, the squad features Manav Suthar and Harsh Dubey (both left-arm spinners) along with offspinner Tanush Kotian.
Karun Nair’s Comeback Opportunity
The tour presents a potential comeback platform for Karun Nair, 33, who last played a Test for India in 2017. He has been in exceptional form recently, scoring 863 runs in nine matches during Vidarbha’s Ranji Trophy-winning campaign in 2024-25. His performances in county cricket for Northamptonshire over the past two years, including an unbeaten 202 against Glamorgan, further strengthen his case for a return to the national setup.
