The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a central government initiative designed to provide housing for the economically disadvantaged in both rural and urban areas. Deadline Extended Till December 2025
The government has announced an extension of the PMAY application deadline to December 2025, giving eligible individuals more time to apply. Applicants can also track their application status online through official portals.
Urban Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Urban component (PMAY-U), applicants must not own a pucca house and must fall within one of the following income groups:
Economically Weaker Section (EWS): Annual income up to Rs 3 lakh
Lower Income Group (LIG): Income between Rs 3–6 lakh
Middle Income Group-I (MIG-I): Income from Rs 6–9 lakh
Slum Dwellers: Residents of informal urban settlements
Rural Eligibility Criteria
For the Rural component (PMAY-G), preference is given to:
Households listed in the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC)
Families living in kutcha houses (one or two rooms with non-permanent structure)
Homeless individuals
Ineligibility Criteria for PMAY-G: Applicants are not eligible if they:
Own a pucca house
Own vehicles or mechanised farming equipment
Have a Kisan Credit Card with over Rs 50,000 limit
Have a government employee in the family
Pay income or professional tax
Own modern appliances like refrigerators or landlines
Possess irrigated land exceeding the specified limits
Target Beneficiaries
Urban: Includes daily wage earners, street vendors, migrant workers, and others in the unorganised sector who belong to EWS or LIG groups. SC, ST, OBC, minorities, and widows are also eligible.
Rural: Covers SC/ST families, the homeless, manual scavengers, destitute individuals, primitive tribal groups, and freed bonded labourers.How to Apply Online for PMAY

For PMAY-Gramin (PMAY-G):

3. Select Name: Choose your name from the results and proceed.
4. Finalize Application: Provide banking and scheme details; verification will be completed by officials.
