Pakistani Shelling Kills 4 Indian Forces in Jammu Amid Rising Cross-Border Tensions

Highlights:

  • Four Indian security personnel, including Army, IAF, and BSF members, lost their lives.
  • Heavy shelling and drone attacks reported across Poonch, RS Pura, and Udhampur.
  • IAF sergeant killed just days after redeployment to tense forward base.
  • BSF sub-inspector among the dead; seven others injured in the same attack.

Heightened hostilities along the India-Pakistan border in Jammu have turned deadly, with four Indian security personnel killed in the past 24 hours following a surge in artillery shelling and drone strikes by Pakistani forces. The casualties span across three different wings of India’s defense forces — the Army, Indian Air Force, and Border Security Force — highlighting the widespread impact of the intensified cross-border aggression.

Among the fallen heroes is Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, a junior commissioned officer from Himachal Pradesh, who died after a Pakistani shell exploded near his post in the volatile Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch. In the RS Pura sector, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, 25, from the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, succumbed to injuries sustained during an overnight exchange of gunfire and mortar attacks.

The Indian Air Force also mourned a loss as Sergeant Surendra Kumar Moga, a 36-year-old medical assistant with the 36 Wing, was killed during a strike in Udhampur. Moga had only recently been transferred from Bengaluru to the forward base in response to rising tensions. His death has left his family in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district devastated, with his elderly mother, wife, and two young children preparing to lay him to rest with full honors.

Adding to the toll, BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imtiaz lost his life when his unit came under intense fire along the international border in RS Pura. Seven of his fellow personnel were also injured in the same attack, though their condition is reported to be stable. Officials confirmed that all injured personnel are receiving treatment at a nearby medical facility.

As the situation remains tense along the Line of Control and international border, security forces remain on high alert, with increased deployments and surveillance to counter further escalations.
